I Love Hot Chocolate
I don't drink coffee. On a cold morning when I need that extra boost to get myself going, a cup of hot chocolate does the trick. I don't mind the instant kind. I'm not a hot chocolate connoisseur, drinking the finest chocolates from the far reaches of the globe. The cheap stuff from Mall-Wart will do just fine. I'll go a little heavy on the scoops and then drop in a few Hershey Kisses before I heat it all up. Now that's good stuff.
Right now I have an abundance of hot chocolate in the house. My girlfriend teaches music enrichment classes to kids. One of her efforts involved teaching the children to make drums. We had to supply all the material for the class and she decided that the perfect "drum" would be an empty hot chocolate container. So we went down to Mall-Wart, bought up all the cans they had on the shelf, and emptied the contents into plastic containers when we got home. I've got enough hot chocolate mix to last me the next few centuries.
Living in Las Vegas means that there are precious few cold mornings. So I find myself drinking less hot chocolate than I did back on the east coast. Those mornings could get right cold! Here in Las Vegas it's never really very cold. Even in winter, it's always tolerable, at the very worst. But if I ever find myself really cold, there's s special concoction I like to make. It's nothing so unusual and I'm sure most people reading this will have heard of it. But just in case someone out there is not in the know, here you go...
I add peppermint schnapps to my hot chocolate!
Yeah, that's it. Like I said, nothing special. But it really does the trick. I tastes fantastic and it really warms up the insides. And now that I have a lifetime's supply of hot chocolate, all I have to do is run down to the liquor store and get the schnapps and I'll be set. If it ever gets cold again, that is.
