Why are October figs so ridiculously good?

They are firm, red and have very distinct flavour that I never noticed in the summer ones. I guess the cold benefits them in some way. Apart from the lack of insects, of course.


I just returned from a walk in the woods and it's drizzling thickly. Google says drizzling thickly is an oxymoron but I wonder how else do you describe that, lol.
