why is a grapefruit called a grapefruit?

I believe it's because they grow in clusters on the tree, and thus are reminiscent of grapes.

Yes its weird. The fruit orange is orange in colour. We know a grape is a fruit and another weird one is our alphabet who ever thought of a letter double you ....W..as In u u double you
