I am learning french

I have to say, the french teachers I had from an Arabic background are REALLY good. Accent is perfect, and they teach the language really well!! Correcting every pronunciation mistake, and explaining rather than reading. I love how professional they were, and I have to say, it is something that I may have not expected. I guess I can be too critical or negative in an unfair way, when it comes to my people, it is because I know more than most.

.. and not all of them are even from North Africa like you would expect, but a few were Lebanese, and the one I had today, was from a Palestinian background.. All of them had such perfect accent and fluency, though some of them do not even live in France.

The other day, I loved what the Lebanese teacher who lived in France was saying about football. The class was about sports, and so i said I did not like football because I do not understand the rules.. She said I do not either, but I can still have fun just cheering anytime I see the French team playing or scoring.. What I liked is the way she said it, seemed fun, loving, and just embracing the place she lives in (and probably lived in for long). It is because I know many people from my background would go all the way to some countries just to hate on them while living on their land.. it was refreshing to see such an easy going and fun person, who seems to have embraced and loved the culture of the place that she lives in.

I have a broad Creole accent that I’m trying to correct (I don’t have it when I speak English). But I originally learned French from Creole family members. I have elocution lessons online everyday to help my pronunciation. When I went to France they understood me and were surprised, but I still feel self-conscious speaking to French people (from France).

@bijouxbroussard A guy who grew in the part of Mass that used to be heavily Québécois said that the French loved that an American spoke French with a Québécois accent. Thought it was so cute.
