Where Should I Advertise Myself As Freelance Courier?
I don't really wanna work for UberEats anymore nor their competitors (I also signed up for DoorDash, but never delivered with them while InstaCart and SkipTheDishes put me on waitlists), so I wanna become truly independent. Obviously that means I gotta deliver stuff that those gig platforms won't touch to stand out and to make decent money and/or deliver only for specific niche clients that won't treat me like crap like I do on Uber Driver. I currently deliver by bicycle in my suburban town within the Greater Toronto Area, and I do eventually plan to upgrade to a motorcycle but I won't ever get a car, van, truck, etc due to restrictions of driver's license and expenses with using such vehicles.
To make it simple for potential clients, I'd just charge them an hourly rate which would cover everything that gig companies typically charge separately, as well as doing everything directly with them (e.g., direct transfer, private messaging, personal relations, etc). I'm also gonna have my own rules/guidelines to be transparent with them, so they'll know what to expect out of me beforehand, unlike on UberEats and DoorDash where they only let me edit my profile biography which most just ignore. I am willing to do extra favours and/or adjust the pricing, but they're gonna have to negotiate with me before I deliver and they can't wiggle their way out (or they suffer legal consequences).
Not much of a point in advertising myself on platforms like Fiverr, UpWork, and Freelancer because I guarantee the clients that would need someone like me aren't gonna be there, as those are usually intended for remote and/or white collar tasks. Also those websites/apps tend to also act as an exploitative middleman, albeit to a lesser extent, so I'd just be trading one poison for another. There's no point either in me advertising via e-mail nor SMS nor direct messaging (as in, apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Discord) as that'd just be misinterpreted as unauthorized advertising, spam, and/or soliciting. I can definitely try cold calling, posting signs locally, classified ad sites, and contacting via social media, but that's it.
