To prevent people from attempting to mix it by shaking it with the lid on. 🤣

Plastic spoons melt. Especially above 160°f (71.11° c)

@AdmiralPrune not even real full service restaurants offer coffee for 99¢.

You're lucky to get get it for under $3.00 if not more. Figure out the labor at a minimum of $16.90 per hour. That's the minimum wage here. What a dishwasher gets.

@DeWayfarer This must be a culture thing. I go to a cafe where I order my drink. Pay for it. Then take it to a table where I am left in peace to drink it. And then I’m done there’s a designated shelf when I put my cup, saucer and spoon where a staff member collects it to be washed. It costs a couple of pounds.

@AdmiralPrune Believe me I have worked at plenty of restaurants in my lifetime all across the USA. It's a lot more than the obvious. That's multiple different cultures. My father was a baker from Czechoslovakia and I worked along side him as a kid.

It's likely cheaper to gather and throw out all the splintery sticks than it is to gather up all the spoons and get them washed and dried.

I actually don't mind the wood stirers. I think they are more convenient. I just need a quick stir, I'm not drinking my coffee with a spoon.
You need to grab about 6 of those pointless sticks to give it a good stir

@AbsolutelyFabulous And just hope and pray the splinters your consume don’t splice anything important on its way out the other end.
