Well I can't swim so I'd never go on a cruise unless I learn

Never comfortable about being confined with 2000+ strangers in the middle of an ocean, on a veritable floating island.
Outside help is hours away. Any intervention is left to untrained Pursers/staff, or good samaritans.

Unfortunately, murders, assaults, and disappearances like Amy's are all too common.
Even suicides in jumping overboard.

IE: In July, a Royal Caribbean crew member stabbed a fellow crew member on a cruise ship and then died after jumping overboard.


The laws of the flag state to which the ship is registered normally govern its passengers and crew.
But could get flexible in incidents with few witnesses, or a priority for damage control.
They become a law unto themselves.

I'd rather book a tour and fly instead.

Been on a number of cruises including 3 on Royal Caribbean, the line she disappeared from. All were several years afterwards. Everything went extremely well. Her situation is tragic but I wouldn’t let it deter me from taking a cruise.

My cousin worked the NCL for a lot of years. She said there were still pirates.

Worked on a cruise ship, good way to save money.
