I don't use the chain coffee-shops as such if I can help it.
Though a "Costa" (originally British, swallowed by MacDonalds), seems the only cafeteria available in our County Hospital I used today, the original League of Friends' shop and tea-bar having been done away with.
I much prefer independent cafes, and when I ask for a coffee I ask for an "ordinary coffee". I can't be doing with pretentiously speaking what Americans think is Italian just for a plain mug of coffee, be it infused or instant. Besides, the beverage,, historically, was never an American-OH or Italian-OH invention!
Oh - and I add "please" and "thank-you".
