In my childhood, back in the good old days before supermarkets and vacuum-packed coffee and such things, one of the small pleasures of everyday life was to enter a grocery and enjoy the many aromas. Especially the aroma of freshly grounded coffee coming from the big coffee mill.
In those days it was normal to buy a pound or half a pound of coffee at the time so that the coffee you had at home was always freshly grounded and had not lost any of its taste.

In the town where I live, there are many shopping arcades and one such arcade used to have a coffee shop that sold coffee grounds and coffee beans and nothing else. I used to love going there - sadly, it's no longer in situ having succumbed some time ago to the credit crunch
