is it a specialist coffee shop or a chain?. Chain coffee always tastes stale.

@DarkSideoftheMoon Yeah it probably needs cleaning and it's likely an old/stale roast.
You can tell a stale roast because you don't get bubbles and it tastes bad, fresh roast releases gases from the bean.
