@OliRos I think they must have some real masterminds working on this. It's made huge strides, even in the last couple of years, I'd say. Never say never!
@OliRos This is spot on, too! I believe the Hindu faith has veganism as part of it. Some of their dishes, yum, absolutely delicious! I never miss meat when I have their food and it isn't about trying to taste like meet or dairy either!
@OliRos
And what is it with vegans, vegetarians? There are excellent recipes they could use. Why do the want imitation meat and dairy? It's crazy.
@OliRos Most people who've made the decision to abstain from eating meat and or dairy products, did not do so because they didn't like the taste of them. Many of the plant-based 'meat' products taste similar, and add protein, texture, and fiber to food dishes they once loved...that contained meat. They also come in convenient forms to prepare meals with, just as most actual meat people buy at the grocery does.
Certainly you are right, that there many excellent dishes...recipes that are great without any meat or dairy alternative product. I'm pretty sure of us prepare and enjoy those, too. 馃檪
@Piper I think the point which @OliRos was making - which I totally agree with - is that factory-produced food is certainly not healthy and is detrimental to the environment. Any potential savings are destroyed by air miles, factory pollution etc. If someone likes the taste of meat then eat ethically-sourced local meat.
@Piper I believe that there are perfectly reasonable moral grounds for not eating animals. Equally, there are reasonable environment grounds for doing it.
But, frankly, eating factory produced pretend meat is illogical and self-indulgent. I am going to show my moral superiority by not eating animals, but at no sacrifice to myself, because I will still have all the pleasure of eating laboratory/factory producd meat substitutes.
But why do I care about this hypocrisy? People do what they do. I can't waste more time on this.
@ArtieKat I see. According to most all available estimates, 99% of the meat of animals that people consume is factory-farmed. I'm very aware that there is no harm-free way to feed the masses, but there is a concept I embrace...of trying to do the least harm in one's consumption choices.
@Piper We're all different, with different values. When I was cooking professionally it was a matter of personal pride to me that the ingredients I used were as natural as possible and I developed my own recipes accordingly.
@OliRos Wow. Quite an assumptive and judgmental reply, in response to someone who has shown no indication of moral superiority for not eating animals. 馃
