When do you think bacon was invented? Do not use google or I will destroy you

It's strange to think that people in the olden times would fry an egg and NOT HAVE BACON?! Poor guys... You'd think that would be the highlight of their day away from eating sardines and bread.

I do not know the answer yet but I will soon (watching a thing), and then I will reveal the answer.
And if you know the answer, do not make it too obvious, pls

You know, ive never looked this up. (Resisting temptation to do so😏).

I always assumed it was a very old form of curing and storing meat - hand in hand with smoking it.
Salting food goes back to Egyptian times .
So i assumed bacon was 1000's of years old🤷‍♀️
