Does peace come with a dividend?

Way back when I was young and actually drank beer some friends of mine and I went to a bar. We ordered 2 beers each (8 oz per glass) and paid for them with the few dollars we had between us. We sat quietly in the corner watching the local entertainment. No not a band but a series of fist fights. It was pretty wild with beer bottles and beer glasses flying in all directions. We finished our beer and were about to leave when a fresh tray of beer arrived. We didn't have the money to pay for the beer but the waitress told us it was on the house. So we sat and watched more entertainment. Ducking occasionally and keeping our backs to the wall just in case. Having finished the beer again we got up to leave when another tray of free beer arrived. Feeling a bit tipsy and enjoying the fights we sat and drank until last call. Finally we staggered to the bartender and asked him why the free beer. He replied that we were the only group in the bar that was not fighting so he decided to reward us.

Who says that peace doesn't pay?!

@Ferise1 You would have to live in the place and time. Almost any bar you walked into in that time there was usually a fight going on somewhere. I remember walking into a bar and had to duck as I walked up the stairs. A beer bottle aimed at someone else came very close to my head.

@Thinkerbell Yes it was in Western Canada in the 1970s. Wild times. Fun times to become an adult.
