I mean depends on where you go and what you get. Where I live cheap happy hour drinks can cost you like 7 bucks a go. Normally I'd expect to spend at least ten dollars on a drink. Something upscale like a cocktail or good 8oz glass of wine is 15-20.

It depends on where you are in the UK, but the average cost for a pint of beer is about £6. https://www.timeout.com/london/news/how-much-the-cost-of-a-night-out-in-london-has-changed-over-30-years-050725

@HumanEarth You can get a reasonable bottle of wine for £10 here, so I think more people drink at home now.

More bars, dance halls and more are closing every day

Last time I went out (several years ago) I paid like $40 for two drinks. Super not worth it.

In India, if i buy 3 large pegs at a bar, i usually pay the price of the full bottle if bought outside.

@meggie I was wondering the same thing
WandererTony · 56-60, M
@HumanEarth Well it never occured to me that it is not an universal measure of liquor, but now that you 2 mention it, i guess we got it from the British - a colonial hangover!! 😀

UK, 20% VAT, alcohol duty, national insurance payment, minimum wage, energy bills, business rates, SKY TV, PRS to play music. You won't make a profit on £5 unless the staff are volunteers.
HumanEarth · F
What's vat and alcohol duty
Thedevonman · 61-69, M
