How many of you SW women consider yourselves a "drinker", meaning alcoholic beverages.

I have noticed, in my life, very few of the women are/have been drinkers. When I say "drinkers", I mean getting intoxicated on a regular basis or drinking almost daily. Once every couple months or a couple times a year doesn't count. All my girlfriends rarely, if ever, drank and my wife might have a drink a couple times a year. I honestly know more women that don't drink than do, and I think that's interesting. This question was inspired by some answers to another SW question. Yes, I do like to get intoxicated every couple weeks and do have a few drinks a couple times a week.

I'm a recovering alcoholic. I started when I was 15. I used to get wasted 7 days a week. I went to AA off and on through the years. I was a functioning alcoholic until after work.

I thought drinking was a way to solve my problems not realizing all the problems I was creating. Every 5 years I fall off the wagon and start up again. July of this year will make 6 straight years.

Battling this will never be completely over because on my worst days...it is my first thought.

@LilPrincess That was my thought, also. I have a brother that has completely ruined his life due to alcohol. I mean he is 31and needs a walker to walk and is mentally disabled but still drinking. He will probably die if he quits at this point, because his body has been through withdrawals so many times. You chose a hard path of recovery that you continue to go down, he took the cowards way out!

@WizardofOz I am dealing with a situation like that with my brother. Not only is he an alcoholic but a drug addict. Its hard because we use to be close and best friends and now I don't even recognize him. I put him in rehab after rehab and still no change. He even went to prison on drug charges for 3 years to get out of prison and right back to the same people.

@LilPrincess Isn't it sad? I'm to the point with my brother, that I'm numb to it, in fact, I feel a level of disgust when I look at him and I feel bad for having those feelings.

@WizardofOz I understand because that is how I feel. He got out of prison two weeks before our oldest brother died and I thought that would be enough to make him change but even that didn't

@LilPrincess Just don't stress yourself over it! That's not good on your health. My mom had two strokes in two years and I 100% blame him for it! That's something you don't want happening to you.
