I'm still battling with Alcohol [I Like Alcohol]

Since I started drinking I've had a bad relationship with alcohol. I don't use it to function and can go decent periods of time without drinking but when I do I very much over indulge. I feel like crap this morning, I didn't drink that much last night but it was the second night in a row hence why I feel so bad.

In the UK we have this thing called Sober October, it's where you go alcohol free for a month and raise money for charity. I'm thinking of doing this.

I don't want to be completely sober, my aim is to have a better relationship with drink and be more sensible with it. I get frustrated with myself that I can lay off it for a while and then fall back into bad habits pretty quickly.

@bearinthehalfwayhouse I know what it does to me and still carry on. I've made plenty of pledges but often fail. Was thinking if I do this thing in October for another cause it may help?

All the best on your journey Bear.....

It's a thief. It can steal your life if you let it.

@SW-User I hope you can. My dad died recently, he drank all his life and in the end chose it over his family and knowing his grandchildren. It was tragic to watch and very painful for all involved.

@KuroNeko It must have been difficult to deal with. I don't want to hurt my family like that.

@SW-User I'm sure he never meant to. The drink just skewed his perception so much that he blamed everyone else and was certain that he had been abandoned, despite many offers of help over the years. It really blinds people.

I have a similar issue. I always drink more than I planned. But I can go for long periods without drinking.

Appletiser on ice is a nice alternative 😘

Good idea. Go a month or so without it. See if it’s easy, see if you miss it. If it’s easy just do another month etc etc etc

I you got into trouble every time you had a bar of chocolate you would stop eating chocolate. Easy. If alcohol causes you problems just leave it alone. Then it won’t cause you problems... @SW-User

@SW-User I get what you are saying, however, if I found that easy I wouldn't be on here complaining about these issues. I have a plan for the next few months and I'll try my best to stick to that plan.

I know it’s not easy. It is simple though. We just stop drinking... @SW-User @SW-User
