Will you buy locally grown/raised when possible? Though it be more expensive.

I wish I could find reliable sources and afford to, most of the stuff at the farmer's market is way overpriced and some of it is not even local, imported from other states....I would love to buy farm eggs, meat, milk to make cottage cheese and yogurt, etc....or have a place in the country to raise a grass-fed beef to butcher, my own chickens for eggs and meat, and be able to fish for fresh fish, and have a veggie garden, fruit trees, etc.

Almost the Garden of Eden! I have seen road side fruit trucks advertising "local" fruit, and the funny thing is, fruit doesn't grow "locally" where I live...it's ALL trucked in from across the country!!!!!@cherokeepatti:

@Rarebreed: I was born on a farm and we had all that. It wouldn't take a farm to be able to raise your food but it would take an acreage...and the willingness to take care of it...I don't drink real milk now, it doesn't taste the same and it's not healthy with all the chemicals in it.

I was on an acreage and had all that but moved to a small town not long ago. The markets come to me now so I still get to partake in most fresh produce and meats.

@Rarebreed: I haven't found cream or cottage cheese without carrageegan added to them, that sort of thing frustrates the hell out of me.

Ever try making your own? We've done cottage cheese me yogurt. The cheese is a little too much work.

@Rarebreed: We did on the farm, it is dry after you hang it up and let the whey drip out...you have to add cream to make it like what they sell in the stores. I would have to find milk without chemicals if I ever make it.

...and that's the challenging part!
