I really hate to break it to everyone, but literally LIVING causes cancer. Cells multiple and when they do, there is a risk they go rogue and become cancerous. So have that bacon and enjoy a smoke now and then :)

@sighmeupforthat: Literally from the Mayo Clinic website..
Cancer is caused by changes (mutations) to the DNA within cells. The DNA inside a cell is packaged into a large number of individual genes, each of which contains a set of instructions telling the cell what functions to perform, as well as how to grow and divide. Errors in the instructions can cause the cell to stop its normal function and may allow a cell to become cancerous.

What causes gene mutations?

Gene mutations can occur for several reasons, for instance:

Gene mutations you're born with. You may be born with a genetic mutation that you inherited from your parents. This type of mutation accounts for a small percentage of cancers.

Gene mutations that occur after birth. Most gene mutations occur after you're born and aren't inherited. A number of forces can cause gene mutations, such as smoking, radiation, viruses, cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens), obesity, hormones, chronic inflammation and a lack of exercise.

Gene mutations occur frequently during normal cell growth. However, cells contain a mechanism that recognizes when a mistake occurs and repairs the mistake. Occasionally, a mistake is missed. This could cause a cell to become cancerous.

I am of course very sorry to hear your wife has cancer.

They say everything gives you cancer but it's not the total truth yes smoking is bad but it doesn't give you cancer.

The thing is they say it gives you cancer but it can't actually give it to you or cause it and the reason so is cause we already have cancer within us it's already inside our bodies

what smoking does is it breaks down our body and our ability to fight cancer in other words smoking only speeds up the process for us to get cancer we already have the cancer cells inside us already inside our bodies just waiting buying their time until our bodies break down and can no longer fight than that's when cancer strikes

Smoking doesn't cause it but just speeds up the process we already have cancer but smoking doesn't cause it like I said it just speeds up the process cause there are people out there in the world never smoked a day in their life and still got cancer

it goes to point out that smoking doesn't cause it or is the cause it just points out that you don't have to be a smoker to get cancer you can still get it without smoking it just means you will be healthyer not smoking but doesn't guarantee you won't get cancer cause you still could

nothing in this world guarantees us that we won't get cancer cause it's already inside us it's just a matter of when and all of this talk saying this will give you cancer or that they don't and can't cause we already have cancer

all these things may do is speed up the process for the cancer to do its thing but we already have cancer it's already inside us

the things we do only speeds up the process at best all we can do is delay it but not stop that so I would not worry about it or what they say eventually their going to say everything we do gives us cancer and we can't stop eating everything or drinking everything cause if we do that we will just die of starvation or dehydration and cancer will be the least of our problems

look I am not trying to say that they are full of crap and saying that it's safe to smoke or anything cause smoking is bad but it doesn't cause the cancer it just breaks down our ability to fight cancer and eating bacon doesn't cause cancer either it would make us over weight and we could die if we get to over weight but also the point is anything we eat or drink could kill us if we over do it nothing is 100 percent healthy for us in this world

as long as we don't over do anything we are fine but their making it sound like the things we do is going to kill us real quick and it doesn't work like that

look if you want to smoke or go back to it that's fine if you don't that's fine to or if you feel like you want to eat bacon eat bacon nothing in this world guarantees us anything or guarantee us that we won't get cancer cause we don't do this

we still can get cancer no matter what let's say you still smoked so what they are making it sound like your going to get cancer right away and it doesn't work like that it still will be a while before smoking broke you enough to even get cancer like I said they are over hyping it

their making it sound like you could get it right now and let's say hypothetical that in some way you do have cancer the next day it wouldn't been from smoking that I could say

but the point is they are over hyping this stuff cigarettes don't cause cancer they break down your bodies ability to fight it cause we already have cancer we are born with the cancer cells in us it's already there just waiting it's time to strike

so everything they are saying would only speed up the process not give us cancer it can't give what's already there inside us so I am just saying ignore them if you want eat bacon eat bacon if you want to smoke than do that but let it be your decision don't let people tell you shouldn't do this or do that

@jon200547: wait until you get it or a loved one then it's a different story.
jon200547 · 36-40, M
@sighmeupforthat: I am not saying you don't get cancer You missed my point I was trying to say even though I totally didn't explain my self we are already born with the cancer it's already been inside us sense the day we were born these things only speeds up the process so I am not saying we don't get cancer I am saying these things speeds up the process they can't give you cancer cause we already have cancer it's already inside us it's been there sense day one

The stuff we do whether it's smoking or eating bacon only speeds up the process it doesn't give us cancer cause we already have cancer it's already inside us all things we do only breaks down our bodies ability to fight cancer

You already have cancer I already have cancer the whole world already has cancer the cancer cells are already inside us it's been there since the day we were born we already have it but it's what we do to ourselves on whether we get cancer now or later if we don't do anything it just takes a really lot of years before cancer shows itself

Or it can take less years but still a while to show itself but point is we already have cancer we all do it's just the matter of when we get it or some of us may get lucky and never get it but we all have it

Anything causes cancer. My mom died from cancer even though she taking care her diet so much. She drank plain water everyday, she didn't chicken's skin whatsoever. Besides, my father wasn't a smoker. But still, she died. It turns out my grandma also died from cancer which means genetically I'm also has chance getting cancer. Well, that's why I'm smoking.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
terribly sorry to hear that about your mum :(
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I heard a discussion about this on the radio and the medical person being interviewed said that at the rate that cancer is increasing everyone would have it in a decade. And I've heard naturopaths say that everyone has it an average of 5 times in their lifetime but a healthy immune system will overcome it.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
It's more complicated than that dear.

Coming from a survivor and whose spouse now has it.

Do the research and actually help the cause.

Knowledge is part of the stage in advancements in finding solutions for treatment.

Thanks.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
I wasn't saying I believe it but just going off what the news on tv and magazines and stuff say.. hell even bananas apparently cause it now.. ridiculous I know..

that's awesome you are a survivor and I'm very sorry to hear about your spouse

Yeah. But the increased risk is small but the media spins it

These numbers aren't correct, so don't quote me. But say the risk of bowel cancer is 0.28% and eating bacon makes it increase to 0.42%... the media say the following -

Bacon increases your chances of bowel cancer by 50%!!
Redstar · 36-40, M
I'm not worried. The risk of getting cancer from what we eat is much smaller than the risk of getting it from smoking, which I don't do.
But I make up for it by causing damage to my liver instead of my lungs :P
Socialclutz · 36-40, M
You could vape weed and smoke occasionally
Socialclutz · 36-40, M
I know what you mean about what it did to your brother. I have brother negatively affected by it too. I know it negatively affected me as well but I still love the magic weed stuff.

You could get loose leaf tobacco it is cheaper than nasty cigaroos but you'd either have to roll your cigs or just use a tobacco pipe. You're better off not smoking it though.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
yeah weed can be pretty horrible to some. not willing to take that risk for myself..
as much a s I miss smoking at times, I couldn't get back in the habit of it now
Socialclutz · 36-40, M
It depends on where the weed was procured from which affects the quality of it. Good weed is potent, and you don't need much to be high, but when you're smoking it, it is difficult to control how much you use because it feels so good. That's where those who abuse it get into trouble with it.

You sound like you're making the right decisions

Lol so do I. I'm constantly making wisecracks about how much I want to start it up again but people don't know they're really not wisecracks. I don't want to do any of this vaping crap either. I want that fiery stick of tar and carcinogens between my fingers that chars up my lungs really good.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
lol vaping cant live up to the cancer sticks
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
it's in the genes also.

my wife smoked now she's dying.

spends all her time in chemo and radiation.

got more scheduled for today.

i'm really pissed off about all of this.

so, you make the animal smoke, before it's been killed? 🤤
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
😉 I like my meat smokey
