Do you like grapes ?

My grandfather had a wine press, and wooden barrels, in our cellar. I used to love watching him make wine, and I can still remember the aroma of the grapes.

@DrWatson: we used a large crock to make ours, the same one we made sauerkraut and cheese in. I remember that smell too.

We lived in the Bronx, in an Italian immigrant neighborhood. But we had a yard with fruit trees and a vegetable garden, as did many of the homes there. We all moved to the suburbs when I was 8, but my memories of those early years are quite vivid.
