How do you thicken buttercream?

I have a dilemma im making a birthday cake for my friend who is also obsessed with harry potter... im recreating he cake hagrid gave to Harry for her. but anyway my buttercream in too runny for my liking and have run out of icing sugar.... it is currently 10:15pm and need to finish it before she leaves for america on saturday xxxx

Try mixing in corn starch. A tbs at a time. If it's really watery you might screwed. There is corn starch in powdered sugar. It's what helps thicken. You can also run regular sugar through food processor to make fine sugar but that might leave your frosting grainy.

@xMEGANANNx: take a tiny bit of corn starch and dissolve it in a little cold water... add small amounts while whipping it. It takes a bit, but it will start to thicken
