I rarely eat fast food especially Subway which is mostly bread anyway....I've laid off of grains (especially wheat) for the past months. When I was still working at Walmart they put in a Subway, and when they had meatball sandwiches on sale I bought one, it tasted more like soy than beef and turned me off to the restaurant...If I wanted a soy sandwich that is what I would have asked for. They are diluting their meats with soy...some people are allergic to it and it messes with my thyroid (has goitrogens in it).

Taco bells beef also isnt beef...it tastes good though

The rest of the "chicken" is probably soy protein (think tofu). It is bland and neutral and can be flavored as almost anything. You can't have strips of real chicken and globs of soy in a sandwich so the chicken is probably pureed, mixed with soy protein, flavorings, etc., then extruded into pieces that look like chicken.

I've also read that as much as 50% of commercial fish is mislabeled. It's fish - just not the fish stated on the label.

Yikes, good thing I don't take subway for years..the very reason that most of the time I cook at home
