if youre vegitarian. what tasty things do you eat?

Im thinking of becoming a vegitarian. not because ive got any moral or political views about it. but because eating meat has always grossed me out, dont get me wrong i love the taste but my imagination kicks in a lot when i eat it, and throws pictures of where its come from at me. i also dont think, if it wasnt offered to me ready prepared to just put in the oven from the supermarket id actually eat it. i couldnt kill my own food thats for sure, and i definatly couldnt gut and prepare it with out vomiting out more than id get from the animal, unless it was dire circumstances.

ive been this way since i was a little kid but i never became a vegie cause my mum was cooking my food, i just ate what i was given. and now its just the norm. but rather than buying propper meat and preparing it, im eating proscessed crap. i tried to prepare some raw chicken breast the other day, i nearly passed out, that shit is disgusting lol.

what was it like for you when you made the transition. did you feel weaker? is it a less healthy diet. what meals do you actually eat? all i can think of is tomato soup lol.

Hi :) I am a vegetarian...
Really there is a lot of options, and you can have vegetarian versions of the foods you eat! You can get veggie fake-meats in shops (e.g veggie burgers, veggie sausages and veggie bacon). Although, it is healthier to make these homemade instead of buying frozen ones in supermarkets.
Also, if cooked properly, tofu can actually taste darn good! Especially with noodles. :)
For protein; falafel, cheese, soy products, nuts and seeds, certain vegetables, eggs, milk and vegan milks are great sources :)
I generally eat a wide variety of foods but my favourites are pasta, noodles and rice :) I also love salads!

I did feel weaker when I became vegetarian, but only because I was not balancing my types of foods. Just like meat eaters, we need a balance to stay healthy. I recommend talking to a doctor or health expert on advice on how to balance out meals. Vegetarianism (in my opinion) is only less healthy if you do it wrong.

As for the transistion...it was hard at first, but when I looked into my options it became a lot easier.

If you have any questions about vegetarianism then you can pm me or talk to me on this post. :) If you want I can send you some links to healthy vegetarian recipes?

@SuicideScout: Well, supermarkets normally have frozen fake-meats for vegetarians :) If you are health conscious; just go for the one with the least chemical ingredients. Also, pasta, noodles and rice are good for quick and easy meals (just don't have too much)...I regularly have boiled eggs as a side dish/snack as they are filled with protein and are quick and easy to make. Another thing I do is I get a bag of frozen veggies and just boil or microwave them and have them with fake-meats. :) Canned food is also an option, as long as you don't consume too much salt from them (they aren't the healthiest). Also, I take multi-vitamins but only when I need to. You can consult a doctor on whether or not it would be a good idea to take vitamin tablets.

@LittlePiggy: thats another thing that gets me heaving lol eggs. snotty slimy stuff ugh lol. they are tasty though. when i do cook eggs, if theres one of those little red fetuses comes out in it, thats it im done, not having a meal at that moment lol.
i wish i didnt have such a weak stomach its quite the neucense.

ill have to have a good look into it all properly. i think i manage boiling and blending up soups everyday, just gotta make sure im getting everything my body needs.

@SuicideScout: Good! :) Well, as I've said you can just message me if you need any help. If you don't like eggs then maybe add nuts and seeds to your meals. I personally love nut burgers and nut-filled snacks.

I think I felt stronger, and it can be healthier if you make it that way. This is a great time to become a vegetarian if you want to, there are more veggie foods available than 30 years ago when I decided to do it. Vegetables contain more than enough protein and are easier to digest than meat, and factory made meat foods generally are full of preservatives and possibly traces of growth hormones and antibiotics. Good luck if you decide to go ahead with this

I've always been the same! I will eat cheese, but if I think about what it is I start feeling sick and will avoid it for days or more till I can forget again. I eat a lot of vegetables and pasta. The meat substitutes gross me out because the texture and taste is similar.
