Ramen is made from Chinese Wheat Noodles but the dish itself is Japanese in origin.
"In 1958, instant ramen noodles were invented in Japan, and were first given a name of Chinese origin - βRamen.β This primarily refers to noodles in a soup broth. Due to the ease of preparation and rich flavor of ramen noodles, consumption of ramen noodle soup use quickly expanded worldwide."

Gemma, PinkVelvet, American college students appreciate the ingenuity of the Japanese for inventing the Instant Ramen Noodles. I think it was in every college dorm room.

@StepDad2: most university students in most countries appreciate it. Not just Americans. It's cheap and quick. I ate it a lot when I lived on campus and I'm not American
