Why do people like bacon so much?

Okay, so the whole bacon craze started when "big pork" aka the top producers of pork released a joint statement saying that there would be no more pigs and bacon production would decrease.

So, people went crazy and started buying bacon like it was going out of style. Not realizing that most pork comes from Virginia, North Carolina, and New Jersey. And in NC there are more pigs than people. It was all marketing. The price of bacon went up and the number of pigs raised specifically for bacon production increased to meet demand. They tripled their profits and bacon is still all the rage.
