Do you like to eat at the table or with a TV tray?

I always sat at the table growing up to eat meals with my sister. She was on my left because she was left handed and our elbows would have collided if our places were reversed. I still like to sit at the table and eat dinner, my sons are used to doing this and we can talk instead of letting the tv do it.
But in the future when they have flown the nest I will sit with a tray perched on my lap watching the telly. And I will enjoy that.

When I was growing up we always ate at the table as a family (kitchen for every day, dining room for slightly special lol). Now I'm living on my own I vary where I eat - dining table is in the kitchen so If I want to watch television it's in the living room. I couldn't be doing with a tray on my lap though - I have the best of all possible worlds: a trolley cut down to dining height.

@ArtieKat That is a nice piece of furniture. Our coffee table is too low to eat from also I'm not even sure we call them tv trays in the UK, I used the term because I think this is an American site. But I meant of course an ordinary tray. Thinking more on it, I'd rather eat at the table!

@mossyboots I think it is an expression in the UK too - probably larger than a tea tray, and sometimes with foldable legs to go over your lap.

This is what the trolley looked like before my friend John got to work on it.

@mossyboots He did! I'm very pleased with it. The woman who gave it to me was very impressed too
