Dr. Pepper is going to be harder to find

I don't know all the details, but sounds like Dr. Pepper is breaking away from Coca-Cola therefore all Coca-Cola-affiliates will stop carrying Dr. Pepper.

So fans of Dr. Pepper might want to load up on it while they can, as there might be a distribution delay going forward.

Dr Pepper is a Pepsi product so I'm not quite understanding this situation. But please nooooooo don't take my Dr Pepper!!!!
@Tumbleweed As some others have explained elsewhere, sounds like this will only be in areas that Coke was the distributor.

The more I read about this, the more I think it might just be for Coke-affiliated restaurants with fountains drinks as they'll be replacing Dr Pepper with Mr. Pibb.

And maybe the grocery stores will all keep Dr. Pepper.

But not totally sure.

I thought it was its own company
@MyNameIsHurl I'm a bit confused by all this, but I think they had a distribution agreement with Coke and the distribution agreement is ending...

So like on Restaurant where Coke owns the soda machines, it'll no longer be an option.

Or stores that Dr. Pepper is only in due to Coke distribution it potential could be going away.

Maybe this will mainly effect the UK (or whatever country there Coke distributes the Dr. Pepper).

But at least in Restaurants that use Coke may no longer have it.

Though I wonder if Pepsi might attempt to pick them up.

It is manufactured and distributed by various companies depending on country: Keurig Dr Pepper produces it in the United States, The Coca-Cola Company in the United Kingdom, Ireland,[5] Japan, and South Korea, and PepsiCo in a number of other markets.[citation needed] Variants include Diet Dr Pepper and, beginning in the 2000s, a line of additional flavors.

@sstronaut It depends on who owns the gun, the distributer or the bar/restaurant. Many establishments own their own machine and there are only so many options, so if it is not in the gun and it is popular, you will be able to get a can.
@goliathtree gun?

I thought most of the fountain machines were owned by the soda companies, or supplied by the soda companies.

goliathtree · 56-60, M
@sstronaut the nozzle that dispenses the soda is usually called a gun here....and many times the fountain and associated is owned by the establishment. The tavern across the street has pepsi, coke, and RC cola in its gun.

I thought they were owned by Keurig...?
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@fun4us2b They are
So are they going with 7up, which used to be the third option?
@SomeMichGuy According to article on the fountain machines where they are taking off Dr. Pepper, they're attempting to replace it with Mr. Pibb

@sstronaut No I mean it sounds like it's a distribution issue as well, so is Dr. Pepper going in with Pepsi everywhere or will they go with a 3rd-party option, or become one?
@SomeMichGuy This all is very confusing as it seems like Dr. Pepper has a complex system.

It sounds as if... in different parts of the world, they have different agreements, sometimes using Coke, sometimes Pepsi, and sometimes 3rd party... and maybe now their own...

Sounds like this issue, MIGHT be ONLY a distribution thing, and MAYBE only in the US.

As MAYBE Coke will still be distributing Dr. Pepper in the UK.

In the USA, it sounds like Keurig, Dr. Peppers parent company, will now be doing the Dr. Pepper distribution.

Of course, they might try to work some side deals to make it a fountain drink option again for Pepsi or Coke.

@SwampFlower Based on some of the comments, the issue might be only places where Coke is the one distributing them.

So Coke soda machines and the UK as examples...

So maybe the grocery stores will still carry them (unless the store space is saved/controlled for/by Coke)
