@JoyfulSilence Absolutely! 😋 Lunch just arrived. I had to scrape the tomatoes off. ☹

I was annoyed for two reasons.

The sandwich comes with "fries or veggies" and cole slaw. I love cole slaw but not theirs, since it has cold corn in it. I do not like the mixed texture!

So I ordered different sides, with an upcharge: a cup of hot corn (alone, nothing else in it), and a side salad (no corn in that). Yet they still brought me cole slaw, LOL! I may not eat it. They better not charge me. And then they gave me the wrong dressing (Caesar) for my salad. I did not taste it first before adding it, it was the same color as what I wanted (ranch). So I had to get a replacement salad and the correct dressing.

But everything is good! Except for the corn in my slaw. 😡

@JoyfulSilence I am so sorry you are having a bad experience. ☹ Every now and then even our favorite places have a bad day. ☹

They tried to charge me full price for the salad. I said I thought it was just a substitution with a small upcharge. I argued with the server. I asked to see the manager and she took off the charge.

I am never going back.

@JoyfulSilence That's terrible! Where was this? I went to one of our favorite spots this morning. I had the breakfast bowl for me. I ordered a short stack of pumpkin pancakes and a order of sausage for my wife. That last part was to go obviously. I had a new waitress this morning. The owners husband printed my ticket and then came over. She had charged me for two orders of pancakes and two orders of sausage. He comes in on the weekends and talks to all the customers. He said I didn't think you ordered all of this. He redid the bill and made it right. Since she is new I cut her some slack. The place is called Joy's Kousine. Joy is the cook.

It was the Silver Diner.

I used to like it more and it's meals, until they got yuppified. I still went for a few items but miss the good old days when they were just old fashioned diner food.

I searched Google for
"silver diner menu changes for the worse"

AI Overview

Some customers feel the Silver Diner menu changed for the worse after a 2018 "fresh and local" initiative that shifted the focus from traditional, "greasy spoon" fare to healthier, plant-based, and gluten-free options. While others appreciate the healthier choices, some long-time customers miss the older menu, finding that staple items like burgers and fish are not as good anymore.

Shift to healthier options: Silver Diner introduced a "fresh and local" menu in 2018, which included more health-conscious choices like plant-based, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, while still keeping popular classics.

Customer dissatisfaction: Some customers believe the menu quality declined after this change, stating that classic diner items like burgers are no longer as good as they used to be.

Appreciation for health options: Other customers have praised the change, particularly those who are interested in healthier or plant-based eating.

Commitment to choice: The company maintains that the menu is about choice, and while they focus on fresh ingredients, they still offer a wide variety of options for different lifestyles.

@JoyfulSilence I had heard about that. The Silver Diner was one of our favorite places. We went to the one at Potomac Mills.

I think I went to that one many years ago.

But I haven't been to that mall in a long time. It is too far away now.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@JoyfulSilence I completely understand. That was the area we lived in.

Now I go to Arundel Mills which I think is practically the same.

Right now, though, I am at a normal mall in Columbia MD.

@JoyfulSilence We haven't been there in years. Is Chuck Levin's Music still in Wheaton? I really miss them.

@Musicman

I have never stopped in Wheaton. I may have driven through it, though.

@JoyfulSilence Chuck Levin's is one of the largest music stores in the country.

I have never heard of it.

But I haven't bought music in decades.

@JoyfulSilence They sell instruments. Back in the 80's they carried a $7 million dollar inventory and turned it three times a year. If a star needed something immediately and the manufacturing didn't have one in stock they would call Chuck. They had three levels of basement. The salesman took me down to one of them. The room was enormous! They had metal shelving making up isle after isle. Each row was about 50 yards long. He told me that the first two rows were all Gibson Les Paul's. 🤗💝💝💝💝💝🤗
