Food hygiene

Visiting a village, today we went for lunch in a small cafe , we ordered lunch and my girlfriend asked to use the toilet ,they handed her the key and off she went locking toilet door behind her. She returned immediately saying can we leave NOW, I followed her out side and she explained the toilet hadnt been flushed and had brown stains ,the sink was no better .Our appetites disappeared snd we went back to the car and drove back.

I took a food handlers class at the health department in the 1970’s. One of the first things that the instructor said was “If you go to a restaurant make sure the first thing you do is visit the restroom to wash your hands. If the restroom is dirty then leave. Likely the kitchen is dirty too. Leave Go somewhere else with a clean restroom”.

@cherokeepatti My mom worked in the school lunch program back then and they were required to wear hair nets and gloves if you were touching any food.

@Adrift they still are, aren’t they? What gets me when I am watching food shows is that men with hairy arms are kneading bread dough and I wonder how much arm hair ends up in the bread. I watched a You tube video this morning like that.
