What's up with restaurants always acting like saltines are worth their weight in gold when you order the soup?

They will give you two maybe four crackers then one extra two pack when you ask for more. Like saltines could possibly be any cheaper without being free.

Kind of why I do not bother with most restaurants, the food isn't typically any better than what we could wh*p up at home in 15 minutes.
