Last meal until the day after thanksgiving

I don't know if anything will be open tomorrow after I get off of work at 6, so this is likely the last proper meal I'll have till the day after thanksgiving. I have beef sticks, cheese, rice and ramen, so I won't starve, just deeply annoyed with this time of the year when everything shuts down at thanksgiving, christmas, new years eve and new years day. I don't think the cafeteria will be open tomorrow here.

I guess I can track down a Sheetz gas station, but most of the ones I've been to don't have a active kitchen anymore, they just have hit lamped earmed foods from some other sheetz. I gotta figure out which one is the one making fresh food and tables to sit down at. If I even bother.

You could possibly get a portion and save it for the next day...?
@being No. I have to walk past a bunch of homeless people on the way to my van parked 20 minutes away, and I would just end up feeding one of them again. And the temperature during the day rises above refrigerator temps so can't keep it in my van (I live in my van).

So I kinda screwed. The traditional theory that you can just go to a asian restaurant and eat during the hollidays doesn't pan out as much because they tend to convert to Christianity and Americana and discover they love the hollidays, and last year I couldn't find one open where I was living at the time. I can travel much farther but don't want to travel from restaurant to restaurant on google maps, and the list of restuarants supposedly open on thanksgiving here in Pittsburgh is largely incorrect, and also quite expensive elite restaurants all within a few blocks of work. I don't care to drop $90 on a puny french steak.

@Dignaga I'd say buy a couple of cheap meals and your preferred one. On your way to your van you can share a bit of the Christmas spirit (don't connect it with religion, think of it as a kind and warm giving spirit) and keep one for yourself.. then warm it up in your van ? If you don't have anything to warm it up you could consider getting something simple, an electric plate would do. Or a small camping gas ?
Or if there's no way, just a sandwich... ?

I'm trying my best to figure you out a solution.....
@being I own a full two burner stove and oven (propane), but next to never use it. I also have a smaller butane single burner, and a alcohol stove, and also another backpacking single burner stove top somewhere in the van.

I'll just eat cheese, beef and ramen. Hollidays suck for me not so much for a lack of people but stuff to do. Christmas should be cold enough to leave food in from the night before.

@Dignaga well in this case if I were you and be so cold and everything closed, I'd use my alcohol stove, just so I can warm myself up and look at the fire and make myself a tea or even better a chocolate with marshmallows
@being I built a tea nook in my haunted "office" at work for me and a few other employees. The alcohol burner would require at least 70% alcohol to burn, but better if it is 90% or denatured. I gave my last bottle of 90% alcohol to a homeless woman showing her how to turn a vienna saisage can into a stove. She wanted to cook a can of green beans but had to show her the inside of the can was lined in plastic and gave her a different brand.

I used to do book burning videos with my alcohol burning stove (can also burn wood and paper) whenever I did a book review on a terrible translation of a historical text on instagram. I would read a page, rip it out and burn it while mocking it. Made some great tea though.

@Dignaga thank you for sharing this. You've got interesting stories to tell.
Were you here with a different profile name ?
I don't remember having seen your name around
@being Yes. Theophrastus and before then Onasander. I'm likely going to change it to Buckminister Fuller soon, if it allows me to use a space in my username, if not then some other philosopher with a single word name.
