To combat obesity should fast food restaurants have scales at the counter which read your weight, and then they refuse to serve you if you're body

-mass index is too high? A bit like how they don't serve people in bars that have drank too much

That makes no business sense for them.
They're in there to make money. And the more you buy, the more money they make.
They do not care what you weigh.

@HairyBallSack1: It'd put fast food businesses out of business. Law is never going to enforce something like this because, a lot of businesses depend on people being unhealthy.

@HairyBallSack1: Alcohol and cigarettes are different substances and not comparable to food.

@HairyBallSack1:

There is a reason food is not classed jointly with alcohol, tobacco or drugs.
I do agree, obesity is a problem. But the solution will not come from the government bodies or businesses.
In certain countries, and from what I hear but have not verified, for USA, the cheapest food to buy is junk food. Healthy food can be really expensive. So even if these people were educated and did develop a taste for good food, they'd not be able to afford it.

@HairyBallSack1: I've always known the cost of food in UK. And you are a single person. What about families? There is a cost attached to cooking.
