With refried beans, are they beans that been be 'fried again' or does it mean something different?
A bit like chile con carne as a name doesn't make sense to us aussies.

Chili con carne is literally "chili with meat."

Something else. They are cooked in water let cool then mashed and fried. It's more of a way to reheat leftover beans.
