Really? Always?
KunsanVeteran · 61-69, M
@RenFur Absolutely. Not healthy and easily avoided while saving money. So many healthy substitutions and options.

You got me thinking, now... but I've already ordered chicken and ribs from Swiss Chalet (Canadian franchise) for a 4PM delivery. Comes with coleslaw, though :)

@RenFur Chicken is fine. All fowl and fish. Heavy on the salmon!

Stay away from gluten. Lots of fiber in fruits and vegetables.

But gluten isn't off limits for everyone, is it? I start to read about it and my eyes glaze over with boredom.

And, by salmon do you mean even salmon in the can? The wife and I ordered salmon at the Royal York for room service and it was this slab of (what looked like) raw fish.

@RenFur Gluten increases inflammation and folks prone to arthritis or autoimmune diseases will see flares with gluten (not talking sprue or celiac disease here). There are other healthier alternatives and I would suggest looking into them.

Basically we are looking at foods which fuel obesity, diabetes, and highly processed foods.

I must have a high tolerance to/for the stuff - - my diet would astonish you, I'm sure!
KunsanVeteran · 61-69, M
@RenFur Perhaps. But individual tolerance for certain aspects of your diet is quite varied. Some have high tolerance, others almost none. Both of my parents and my older sister are type 2 diabetics (well my parents were before they died). I am technically pre-diabetic, but with exercise and diet now have a normal HbA1c. I do take Glucaphage (Metformin) and will continue to do so but I went from someone with metabolic syndrome in 2010 to and ideal BMI, normal labs, and high exercise tolerance primarily by following a modified Atkin’s diet and moderate exercise program back in 2011.

@RenFur Share?

@KunsanVeteran

Share? You mean tell you what I eat and drink?
If that's what you mean then - - - NO WAY! I know I'm killing myself but I've already lived waaayyy past how long I thought I'd live (I'm 75).
