The London Bar, in El Raval

The London Bar has been a popular haunt since it opened in 1910, frequented by artists and writers such as Pablo Picass0 (1881 - 1973) and Ernest Hemingway (1899 - 1961). The venue resembles a Victorian English pub or gin palace, that were once very popular in major cities such as London, their ornate colourful interiors acting as a foil to the drab and dirty surroundings of the streets. The decoration usually consisted of elaborate illumination using chandeliers and an extensive use of mirrors and glass to reflect the light, making them inviting from the outside.

It is a venue we often end up at on some of out weekend jaunts, if we don't stay in our favourite tapas bar.
