We spent $100 CAD on two cheese burgers fries and drinks at the Air Port in Mexico!

$100! Isn't that insane? Like what do they think just because we are tourists that we're made of money???
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
No, they think you're stuck at the airport with little to no other options.
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
What was the name of the restaurant? That’s like $72 USD airport food is expensive as hell but contrary to the comments establishments don’t charge you what they want the prices are listed. Hacienda (tax commission) takes offenses like discriminatory price gouging very seriously and those businesses would lose their licenses. So the price is the same for everyone from foreigners to nationals.

Now the small markets are known to price haggle. They have prices up to 100x the actual cost for locals, & somehow it’s still tenfold cheaper than it would be if you bought it as an import in your country of origin.

At that price I assume 2 people are and we’re full.

Today I went to McDonald’s and bought 2 Big Mac meals and a happy meal and it was $34!!! $34!!!

And my teens weren’t even full 😅😅😅

We went to culvers last week and for 4 adult meals we spent $69! For fast food! Like at a chain not even like at a sit down restaurant

Actually they do think you're rich.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti That is because you are smart and frugal. 🙂
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Musicman I won’t be exploited that way. There are always some alternatives.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti That's why I said you were smart and frugal. You have a brain and actually use it unlike some people these days. Okay a lot of people these days. ☹️
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
I always thought things were cheaper in Mexico. Guess not.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Subsumedpat not for foreigners it seems
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
It’s called O’Bidenomics.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@therighttothink50 this story is about Canadians in Mexico. Try again
accidentprone · 22-25, M
Welcome to Bidenmonics. You want to continue to vote for this madness, or are you willing to vote for Trump. Gas was 199.9 and the world was at peace.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@accidentprone I thought you people hated foreigners voting in your elections.

It's the drug cartel "tax".

They control over one third of the Mexican economy, especially in tourist areas.
Badjujubee · 46-50, F
@GuiltyBiStander And the CIA runs the cartels…
Ontheroad · M
That is outrageous, but not uncommon for airports... the thing is, you are stuck there and hungry and they will charge you what they want.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I would have gotten a snack and water at a shop and said to hell with getting ripped off
Badjujubee · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti probably $15 dollars for a bottle of water and anything edible would cost you $10… you can’t win in a fixed game.
Badjujubee · 46-50, F
Seemingly more and more common in my observation and experience.
Lilymoon · F
Was it good tho
saintsong · 41-45, F
@Lilymoon yeah it was good enough but if I had my way it wouldn't have cost nearly that!
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
Hope it was worth it?
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@saintsong what is the exchange rate of CAD to USD?
Ontheroad · M
@Hanginginthere that's about $72 USD
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@Ontheroad damn and I thought McDonald’s was expensive
