Practice makes perfect. Start with a good recipe and pay close attention to everything you are doing. As you get practice it will start coming more naturally.

@Quietgamer: Case in point, Quietgamer how long have you been cooking and what were your first efforts like? (Might encourage our beginners).

I was 11 or 12 and i cpuldnt boil damn hot dpgs lol im so so sooooooooo much better now

@Quietgamer: I was about the same age and with much the same results. Mostly started off baking. But I thank mom that she made me comfortable in the kitchen. Never complained when I made a mess in the kitchen. Rule in the house for meals on Sunday was she would fix a good breakfast, and a good lunch (unless we went out, which we did often). For Sunday night if you wanted something to eat you fixed it yourself.

Like I said. We might be able to arrange it. Let me know. If we do I'll send you what you need to pick up (I'll bring my pot and spices, I know my pot fits the recipe). Went to look up the recipes and don't have them on my flash drive. So don't know how much each makes but I'm sure that the smallest one makes 12 servings, and I think the other makes 24. The Gumbo takes about 3 hours to simmer but it's worth it. (Also do Red Beans and rice).
