is tap water safe in england

because i heard about 80s singer feargal sharkey campaigning for clean water recently, so it made me wonder if the water we drink/consume is clean?

Tap water is safe. Our problem is sewage water overflowing into rivers and oceans ,especially when it rains, which is often. It is raw, untreated human waste and Sharkey is rightfully appalled .
