why food items are getting smaller

[c=1F5E00]i recently bought a pack of two breaded fillet cod pieces, but they are very small and would hardly fill me up as a main meal, i noticed other products are getting smaller too, like breaded chicken fillets i saw the other day and i noticed snack foods you get now are far smaller in proportion than they used to be when i was growing up in the 80s..

i think the people behind this change /decision need to be harshly dealt with, like lose their job and publicly flogged.[/c]

Actually, that is a common "cost-cutting measure" by big business. Smaller portions as opposed to higher prices help them maintain and increase profits. The bigger problem is, and it too is a profit increase strategy, to leave portion sizes the same during the cut back, but increase prices on the same smaller portion.

It's all a scam!!! 馃槧

Usually when it claims its new and improved, the package has just gotten smaller. I liked old and lousy better.

Inflation, they鈥檒l either raise the price or cut back portion sizes
I remember when fig newtons were a full 16 ounces, and cost $1.99, now they're 10 ounces and $5.49, when ice cream was a full half gallon in a brick box, when fish sticks were almost an inch wide and four inches long, with thickness to them, now they look more like pathetic little twigs, when beer battered fish fillets looked like planks, instead of two bite wonders, when twinkies, ding dongs, and Dolly Madison Zingers were twice the size, etc.
