McDonald’s Has Temporarily Closed Their U.S. Offices Ahead of Planned Layoffs….

I don’t ever remember something like this happening.

You know what, this really doesn't make any sense at all.

McDonald's is the busiest fast food of them all, with the exception of one here. One half hour wait on drive thru right now. Out of about 60 different fast food places in town. We literally have them all here in this little valley. In fact there is three, probably four, McDonald's in this valley alone.

Fewer employees they will limit their own business, because of the wait time. Customers will go elsewhere.

@DeWayfarer They will probably use automation in the restaurants that stay open. I have read they are planning on closing 200.

@cherokeepatti they will loose business if they close any here! They are all that busy! 🤷🏻‍♂️

@DeWayfarer I have no idea where they are closing them.

@cherokeepatti I suspect probably in the south. They really are not fast food oriented.

@DeWayfarer It makes perfect sense. Due to present economic conditions and their business model, they are trapped! Their price/value metric, is screwed!!! This is a fact!

@Oster1 just saying they are going to lose business if they close ANY here in this town.

Economics is totally area dependent. As I mentioned already the south would make far more sense than here. The South really isn't fast food oriented.

@DeWayfarer If these restaurants are in crime-laden areas they might as well go ahead and close them. Have seen too many videos of customers showing their butts ripping & tearing because they either got the wrong order or were told the restaurant was out of something. They become a liability if anyone gets hurt.

@cherokeepatti that particular thing isn't a problem here.

Far to conservative of an area. Though decades ago it was far more of a problem. Not now.

@DeWayfarer Believe me. ALL of them, repeat, all are going to lose business!!!

When the highest performer loses, they all will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Oster1 we'll see. I don't see that happening here quite yet. Elsewhere it's different.

@cherokeepatti I saw a show recently where some fast food restaurants were starting to outsource ordering via apps or the actual drive up. Some of them had a recording that was similar to a VRU and it would come on and ask if you were using "rewards" today. If the customer said "yes" then it was routed to a central person that was sitting in their home waiting for a whisper in their ear that told them which restaurant the ordet was being placed with, and that screen would come up. One rep was taking orders for 12 different food places at a time ( some were same company but multiple locations). The documentary went on to say this was a precursor of another service that could be off shored to anothet country for less money and benefits. We should be careful what we wish for and even more careful about what we accept because we are letting our wants outweigh our needs for survival.
