I never knew what grits were until I was invited to my black American friends homes. I didn't like it. Oatmeal for sure

@empanadas I wonder how they prepared them. The only times I’ve not liked grits was when they were bland, or once when my mother experimented by chopping up onions in them—not good. 🤢

@bijouxbroussard I didn't know they put in onions in it. It was too savory for me. The texture trips my mind out. It's smoother than oatmeal but all the flavors they put in like spicy and cheese trips my tongue. I do enjoy the sweet grits that was like a drink I believe.

@empanadas Most people don’t put onions in them. and I think they’re better without them. Breakfast grits are usually prepared with a bit of salt, lots of butter, it’s cornmeal. Shrimp and grits is more for brunch or other meals (at least in my experience).
