Love them as a kid. And believe it there were no wasps in them. No kid would eat it! Plus wasp nest are dangerous around kids.

Neighbor had her own tree that often over produced. She gave them out to all the kids. She wasn't exactly a farmer either. She only had one tree.

@DeWayfarer The fig digests the original female wasp and her progeny bore a small hole through which they escape. But there are commercial varieties that do not need pollination at all.
