Have you ever been so poor you ate food out of the garbage?

I have and did that quite a bit 2 years ago. I would take half eaten bags of chips out of the trash. A coworker threw a takeout box with uneaten takeout in it away. When nobody was looking I took it out of the trash and enjoyed the 2 steak tacos that were left.

I've always been fortunate enough to have always had food and housing. Of course that could change in an instant and, if it did, I'm not sure what I would do or how I would cope.

So, a hat tip to all who have endured such harships and survived. May your hard times be over.
