This is My Waffle

There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My waffle is my best friend. It is my life. I must devour it as I must devour my life.

My waffle, without me, is useless. Without my waffle, I am useless. I must bite into my waffle true. I must bite deeper than my enemy who is trying to steal my waffle. I must eat my waffle before he grabs it. I will …

My waffle and myself know that what counts in this breakfast is not the food we cook, the noise of its sizzle, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the taste that counts. We will eat well.

My waffle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn from it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its squares and its roundness. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my waffle buttered and ready. We will become part of each other. We will ….

Before Illuvatar I swear this creed. My waffle and myself are the defenders of good taste. We are the masters of the morning. We are the saviors of breakfast.

So be it, until victory is America’s and there is no hunger, but a full belly!

When I actually found the full text of the "Marines Rifle Creed" I laughed out loud. It is sort of silly, to be honest! Then I just substituted words.

Ooops, I missed item seven. Oh, well.
This is hilarious 😆 @JoyfulSilence

I first heard part of it in the movie Full Metal Jacket. That bootcamp part is hilarious at times.
Oh..is that movie bout a rockstar? @JoyfulSilence

No, it is about Marines being trained for Vietnam, and then going. It is a little humorous at times, yet serious at others, and the battle scenes are horrible.

I once saw the actor, Matthew Modine (who played the main character), in an airport. I was waiting in line, and saw him. We made eye contact. Then I made a look like, "Where have I seen him before?" I think he realized he had been noticed. He quickly went through a door (maybe a VIP lounge?).
😃 Cool…so you purposely acted like you didn’t remember him? That’s my genuine reaction when I see my colleagues…I suck at remembering names. 😄 @JoyfulSilence

When I first saw him my first reaction was recognition, like I had seen that face before. But I could not at first remember. So I had a puzzled look, as I searched my memory. I think he actually picked up on that somehow. I bet he saw that a lot before, the look of people trying to remember where they had seen him before. Maybe he feared I would realize who he was, then say something, and then get surrounded by fans.

By the time I remembered who he was (yet not his name, just that he was in movies), he had gone through a door!
Run, Matt run! 🤭 @JoyfulSilence

That was long ago. He is an old man now. But still handsome.
