How can you store garlic paste in the fridge without ruining everything else?

I placed it in a tight container and zipped the container in a zipped plastic bag and it still managed to make the entire thing smell like garlic

Uh that's actually strange because if it's airtight clearly garlic smell can't get out. I just put my garlic or garlic/ginger paste in mason jars and its fine.
