I don't get why so many people criticize Americans for eating Mexican food that isn't "authentic".

How would the average American even know what is authentic? When I make spaghetti or pizza no one says "but is it authentic"? Who cares. This isn't Italy and I never said it 'was' authentic. Once I suggested a Mexican food restaurant to a friend and she criticized me saying it wasn't authentic. I was like 🤔. I had just said it was good. That's all I had said to her. But the restaurant is owned by a Mexican family.Shrugs
