I had venison for the first time

I marinated it to cover some of the wild taste.

Got 2 doe at the processor right now and 4 good size backstrap in the freezer. This weekend will be doing some chicken fried. Love venison.
@JesseInTX Do y’all have like a doe season? Because we can’t hunt doe like all the time.
@JesseInTX They are definitely best eatin, though.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@JustGoneNow we have bow season, then a firearm season that starts for kids for about a week. Then an open whitetail season. Buck and doe open in all but your license gives you a certain amount of bucks you can harvest and a certain amount of doe (more doe than buck). I don’t need the trophies anymore, just a couple decent size doe for the meat. I like putting the younger kids on the trophies.

@JustGoneNow absolutely
@JesseInTX Big racks are meat only good for sausage if that.
@JesseInTX Let the big boys live. Unless you need to depopulate, so they don’t get sick.
@JesseInTX what rifle you hunt with or do you do bow?
TexChik · F
@JustGoneNow We do until they get about 6-7 years old. They start declining after that and seem to suffer.

@JesseInTX AR 10? Is that bolt or semi auto?
@JesseInTX I used to use a 243 Winchester. For me it was the best because of the lack of recoil, it’s accuracy, and all the energy is used up in the deer. I prefer less recoil because otherwise it hurts my arm.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@TexChik semi auto. AR 15 mount. I can hit metal from about 800 yards at the local range.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@JustGoneNow this one has hardly any recoil at all. Barely feel a push on the shoulder.
TexChik · F
@JesseInTX I rifle hunt with a .270 WSM . I shot nearly all of my deer this year with my bow.
@JesseInTX I haven’t been hunting in forever. Or ridden horse either. I miss it. We get back to the farm house several times a year (now that Mum knows I miss it,) and swim in the pond and ride four wheelers but I miss ridding my horse. And I’m not allowed to have guns anymore, so I wouldn’t be able to hunt.

@TexChik my older nephews have got really into bow hunting. The younger ones are learning firearms training and safety now. I really don’t shoot anymore. I help them scout and let them pull the trigger to get the kill. Especially the trophies. The 2 doe I have at the processor they killed. They were sooooo excited 😊

@JustGoneNow maybe you could hunt if someone was with you?
@JesseInTX I bet they were. Fun stuff.

@JustGoneNow I love it reminds me of when my kids were young. There’s so many of the little guys now their dad’s can’t take them all so they each get a turn with Uncle Jesse.

@JesseInTX I am hunting for me. My family isnt really the hunting sort, but they love to eat what I harvest. Which is a lot since we are high fenced...the biologists always have a kill list
@JesseInTX Guns are the issue. Please don’t make me explain. I hate explaining. I can’t own or have a gun. Probably be no one to tell, but I’d be in deep shit, if it was found out.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
No need to explain at all. You know I totally respect you my friend @JustGoneNow 💗

@JesseInTX ty. It would be bad to be around for my fiancée’s career too. I don’t miss hunting that much, so it’s not that big of deal. I’d love to ride horses again, though.
