I had venison for the first time

I marinated it to cover some of the wild taste.

Looks good! You did well. Hope you enjoyed it. We have a freezer full. No additives, hormones..chemicals..just good meat.

@ShadowWorker We had an old preacher come to the farm one day asking if he could hunt deer on the property. We agreed and a few weeks later he brought us dressed wrapped deer roast. Mom was an excellent cook and she knew how to prepare game. We all sat down to eat the roast and our first bite was enough. It was so tough and so gamey we couldn't even swallow it. We gave it to the dog and he wouldn't eat it either! Not sure if he gut shot it and it ran for miles or it was road kill he had found a week after it died or what but it was RANCID!

@hippyjoe1955 omg!!! That ain't right!
We take are deer to an old preacher man too..lol... His sons and him have a building that is equipped with all butcher's equipment. They grounded most for us. Any steaks, chops they run thru the tenderizer..like cube steaks. Haven't had any meat that tasted bad in 8yrs.

@ShadowWorker Normally we don't have that problem either. That one time we did. I have no idea why or what happened but the roast was so bad the dog wouldn't eat it.

@hippyjoe1955 if a dog won't eat... there's the proof it was nasty bad.
