I just got home from my regular grocery trip...there was not one single potato in the store. Bizarre what people will hoard these days.

@Pinkstarburst maybe they are just buying food for home cooked meals, potatoes can be used in soup, stews, casseroles, bakes, fried, mashed and in salads. You know there are people who won’t stock their pantries if they can eat outside in restaurants

@Pinkstarburst what! Not a single potato?? That is just crazy!

@CantExplain 😂 I suppose I DID sound a bit dramatic there didn't I? I just always find it interesting the things people hoard when winter weather hits the south...milk, bread, and apparently potatoes.

@Pinkstarburst the psychology of hoarding can be really powerful. Remember the toilet paper hoarding at the beginning of COVID?

@CantExplain We were expecting a week of really cold weather and now a foot of snow.....3 storms from now through Thursday. We might be snowed in for a week and then the roads still icy for a few days later

@cherokeepatti Good lord, I did hear that OK was going to get pounded w/ 10” of snow. And I know you’re experiencing the same cold as us in north central Kansas. I haven’t been in the grocery stores in several days, so not sure of food stocks in them.

@CantExplain We haven’t had this much winter weather all in one chunk for decades, they say back to 1983
CantExplain · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti our record goes back to 1930. I can imagine folks down your way are taking it sorta hard. Don’t you know the OK panhandle is frigid 🥶!

@CantExplain I am in Central Oklahoma, pretty far from the Panhandle, they always get a real winter there.
