Restaurant experiences so bad they were funny?

We four were on holiday and visited a small town in Britain. One of us craved Indian food. We found a small restaurant advertising itself as Indian. A dark-skinned waiter with a very Indian accent brought menus and asked what we wanted. The first person started ordering - maybe butter chicken or something - but the waiter broke in with "No Indian food today" - spoken abruptly in his thick Indian accent which made it specially hard not to laugh.

Disappointed, we tried ordering other things not-Indian but nearly all of them were also "not today". With a bit of group giggling we finally decided we'd just make do with ham & cheese sandwiches and a beer. The sandwiches did arrive but there was no ham in them! We were by now convulsed in silent hysterics and didn't even bother to complain. The beer never came.

That wouldn’t have been funny, they shouldn’t have even been running a restaurant.

@cherokeepatti Of course they shouldn't have been running a restaurant. They were so incompetent we were choking with laughter. The whole scene could have come straight out of Monty Python. Great material for responding later to 'how was your holiday?'

Personal sense of humour decides whether something's funny. Others may not see it that way. I'm glad I can still get a chuckle recalling how we were too busy laughing to get worked up & angry. Wish I could do that more often.
