Restaurant experiences so bad they were funny?

We four were on holiday and visited a small town in Britain. One of us craved Indian food. We found a small restaurant advertising itself as Indian. A dark-skinned waiter with a very Indian accent brought menus and asked what we wanted. The first person started ordering - maybe butter chicken or something - but the waiter broke in with "No Indian food today" - spoken abruptly in his thick Indian accent which made it specially hard not to laugh.

Disappointed, we tried ordering other things not-Indian but nearly all of them were also "not today". With a bit of group giggling we finally decided we'd just make do with ham & cheese sandwiches and a beer. The sandwiches did arrive but there was no ham in them! We were by now convulsed in silent hysterics and didn't even bother to complain. The beer never came.

@Sweetpoison An Italian cab driver told me real Italian pizza doesn't have 'all that stuff' on it. I think he said just tomato, mozzarella, maybe onion & some basil. We've played around with that and really liked the results.

@Really maybe he meant that the first true italian pizza was the Margherita :)

@Sweetpoison there鈥檚 a local barbecue restaurant here that serves brisket and potato salad that tastes like it comes from Sam鈥檚 club. Mostly they like to sell barbecue pork. Kind of ridiculous to buy premade food from a grocery store to sell in a BBQ restaurant.

@cherokeepatti yeah 馃槦 i agree

I agree but notice that 'ridculous' means laughable :)

@Really If I wanted store-bought barbecue I could have bought it for almost the same price as the meal at Sam鈥檚 Club and had about 3 meals for the portion size they served. Therefore, not laughing.
